Frequently Asked Questions

What is UNS N08367 stainless steel?

UNS N08367 is a super austenitic stainless steel with high chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen content, offering excellent corrosion resistance.

Is UNS N08367 the same as AL-6XN?

Yes. UNS N08367 is the UNS designation for AL-6XN®, a 6Mo super austenitic stainless steel alloy.

Why is UNS N08367 called 6Mo stainless steel?

It is called 6Mo stainless steel because it contains approximately 6% molybdenum, which provides strong resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

What are UNS N08367 Pipes and Tubes used for?

They are used in chemical processing, desalination, marine systems, offshore oil and gas, heat exchangers, FGD systems, pulp and paper, and power generation.

Is UNS N08367 resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking?

Yes. UNS N08367 provides excellent resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, making it suitable for high-chloride environments.

What is ASTM B676 for UNS N08367?

ASTM B676 covers welded tubes made from UNS N08367 and other specified nickel-alloy materials for corrosion-resistant applications.

What is the difference between ASTM B676 and ASTM B690?

ASTM B676 covers welded tubes, while ASTM B690 covers seamless pipe and tube made from nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys, including UNS N08367.

Are UNS N08367 Pipes seamless or welded?
