Titanium Grade 3 (UNS R50550) is the highest grade among the four commercially pure grades having a minimum tensile strength of 450 MPa (65 ksi) and a minimum yield strength of 380 MPa (55 ksi) due to controlled addition of oxygen and iron (without alloying). These pipes are produced as per ASTM B338 and ASME SB338 and shall offer resistance against corrosion similar to other commercially pure grades of titanium but have higher mechanical properties than Grades 1 and 2. Grade 3 can be welded with the usual inert gas shielded welding system and has a minimum elongation of 18%, but during forming, larger bend radii is required. It is resistant to seawater, chlorides and industrial chemicals hence suitable for applications such as chemical processing, marine, power generation, aerospace, and heat exchanger. USA Piping Solution offers seamless and welded tubes with Mill Test Reports (EN 10204 3.1).

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are Titanium Grade 3 Tubes?

Titanium Grade 3 Tubes are commercially pure titanium tubes that offer higher strength than Grade 1 and Grade 2 while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability. They are manufactured to ASTM B338 and ASME SB338 standards.

2. What are Titanium Grade 3 Tubes used for?

Titanium Grade 3 Tubes are used in chemical processing, marine, heat exchangers, power generation, aerospace, oil and gas, and desalination industries.

3. What is the difference between Titanium Grade 3 and Grade 4 Tubes?

Titanium Grade 3 Tubes provide a balance of strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance, while Grade 4 Tubes offer higher strength but lower ductility. Grade 4 is preferred for more demanding structural applications.

4. Are Titanium Grade 3 Tubes corrosion resistant?

Yes. Titanium Grade 3 Tubes have excellent resistance to seawater, chlorides, oxidizing acids, and many aggressive chemical environments.

5. Can Titanium Grade 3 Tubes be welded?

Yes. Titanium Grade 3 Tubes have good weldability and can be welded using proper inert gas shielding to maintain their mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
