317L with 3.0 to 4.0 percent Mo delivers a PREN of approximately 30 versus approximately 26 for 316L. In chloride bearing environments where 316L pits, 317L provides measurable safety margin. Upgrade to 317L when 316L operates at its corrosion limit.
Q2 ASTM A312 TP317 vs TP317L what is the difference
The difference is carbon content. TP317 allows 0.08 percent C max and TP317L is restricted to 0.035 percent C max. 317L prevents sensitization during welding and is the standard choice for all welded construction and assemblies.
Q3 Is SS 317L tube available with NACE MR0175 compliance
