The Geometry, and Why It Self-Cleans
Seen end-on, two rectangular fins welded either side of the tube form the letter H, the tube as the crossbar. Stack finned tubes into a bank and the fin faces line up into continuous straight channels running with the gas. Ash that would wedge between spiral fins instead sees a smooth corridor and keeps moving, helped by sootblowers that can actually reach every surface. Double-H applies the same idea across two tubes side by side, one pair of wider fins spanning both, stiffening the bank and cutting fin count per megawatt.
